Hi there! I’m Adele. I’m a writer, stylist, event planner, and florist. I specialize in the art of simplicity and slow living. What is slow living you ask? Slow living is about finding beauty in everyday life. The key to finding beauty in the ordinary is slowing down enough that you can see it. Things that to most people seem mundane become beautiful – making dinner, baking a cake, enjoying a cup of coffee, tending to a garden. Since our lives are mostly comprised of small moments, doesn’t it make sense to cherish them?

One of my favorite rooms in the house is the kitchen. It’s a safe place where I can create, sauté, bake, roast, chop, whatever a recipe calls for. Although I didn’t grow up in a cooking family, I took a liking to it later in life and it’s been a relaxing pleasure to me ever since. There is power in knowing where your food comes from and knowing what ingredients go into a dish. The kitchen is a place where you can be connected to it all (That might sound hoakey and weirdly religious but it’s true!). Visit the Recipes page for some inspiration!

Not only do I take pride in something I’ve done myself, but I also save a lot of money in the process. Slow living goes far beyond my personal life, it has bled into my work life as well. A few months back, I started working as a florist at a charming flower shop here in my hometown. Not only do I tend to the cats, birds, and chickens on a daily basis I create flower arrangements and work specifically with weddings. I’m surrounded by incredible beauty where I can quite literally “stop and smell the roses,” which is more than most people can say. You can find floral inspiration on the blog including how to do an arrangement using floral foam.
